Rossendales are committed as an organisation to the continuous training and development of all staff, regardless of their length of service or experience.
Rossendales recognises the importance of training and development and is committed to making relevant opportunities available to all staff in order to:
- support the achievement of its strategic aims and business plan objectives;
- ensure that it is able to provide the highest quality of service through its skilled and trained workforce;
- enable all staff to develop their skills and knowledge to improve their job performance, increase their job satisfaction and reach their full potential; and
- increase its ability to attract and retain a high quality workforce.
Rossendales invests heavily in developing its workforce at all levels and believes that a strategy of continuous personal development for every individual is essential to maintain a competitive advantage through a highly skilled, engaged workforce.
Rossendales have offered business administration and customer service NVQs to employees for many years and, in total, 152 staff (83%) hold or are working towards an NVQ level 2 – 4. In 2012, we partnered with Accrington and Rossendale College to administer a new tailored ITQ Level 2 course through an innovative method of 'learning sessions'. So far, over 55 members of staff have completed the ITQ which has enabled individuals within the company to achieve a recognised IT qualification update their IT skills and receive formal IT training.
Rossendales currently have 42 members of staff working towards an NVQ or ITQ which accounts for 20% of the office based workforce. Rossendales have found that by offering NVQs and ITQs and allowing staff time out of their normal roles to study or attend training, a strong learning culture has evolved throughout the business and staff morale, and retention, has risen dramatically.
Following the introduction of the Team Leader NVQ in 2008, we have also further extended the learning and development opportunities open to our team leaders and managers by working with Bury College to enroll 18 employees on the Institute of Leadership & Management Level 4 or 5 Qualification in Leadership and Management Skills.
Rossendales also recognises the importance of continuous professional development and the talent and career management of key individuals therefore have funded members of our workforce through specialist recognised qualifications. These include qualifications awarded by the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation, the Enforcement Services Association, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Association of Accounting Technicians; as well as qualifications such as NEBOSH, PRINCE 2 and the BSI Diploma in Quality Management. Several employees are members of these highly prestigious associations and are formally recognised as experts in their fields.
Through all these initiatives, Rossendales is committed to significantly advancing the skills of its workforce by helping to ensure that every individual reaches their full potential by supporting and encouraging them through their learning and development.
